What is skin rejuvenation?

Skin rejuvenation is a cosmetic treatment, which aims to restore a youthful appearance to your face. Facial rejuvenation can be achieved through either surgical and/or non-surgical options. Sun, skin disorders, aging and even heredity can all contribute to skin irregularities on the face and elsewhere on the body. These include textural irregularities like wrinkles and acne scars, pigmentation changes like freckles, sunspots or visible blood vessels. In addition, skin may lose tone, feel less firm and lose the healthy glow that is evident in younger skin.

At Diamond Laser Medispa we use a procedure in which intense pulses of light are used to penetrate deep into the skin. IPL photo rejuvenation then causes collagen and blood vessels below the epidermis to constrict, reducing redness and age lines. The procedure involves only minimal discomfort, while the redness and swelling that sometimes occur after treatment disappear shortly. Most benefits of this treatment occur gradually in the weeks following treatment. For even greater cosmetic enhancement, clients may also opt for a treatment plan consisting of facials, peels, Dermapen treatments and even Microdermabrasion. These are all available on our custom built treatment payment plan options.

Ideal Laser Skin rejuvenation Candidates

Laser skin rejuvenation is an effective procedure for patients with lines, wrinkles, uneven pigmentation, or superficial facial scars such as acne scarring that does not respond to gentler treatments. The ideal candidate for laser skin rejuvenation has elastic, non-oily skin that is not prone to scarring after minor injury. It is best that laser skin rejuvenation be performed on a person who is free of any medical considerations, including prescription medication and existing health conditions that might cause unnecessary risk during the procedure or recovery period.

Prior to any treatment, a full in depth consultation will be discussed and images will be taken using our Observe skin scanner to pin point issues with in your skin that we will address.

What to Expect During Treatment

Before the procedure begins, your skin is thoroughly cleansed and prepped for the treatment, you will be given protective eye wear to protect you from the bright flashes of light. A cool gel is applied to the treatment area, both to lubricate the hand piece and to help cool the epidermis during the treatment. Your skin care specialist will apply brief pulses of bright light to the skin through the hand piece. Depending on the size of the area being treated, the procedure time will vary.

During the procedure, you skin is cooled using our cryo cooling system to make you feel as comfortable as possible during your treatment, as the treatment begins you will feel a warm sensation caused by the hand piece. Some patients liken the sensation to a light “snap” from a rubber band. The number of pulses you receive will depend on the size of the area being treated. Following the procedure, your skin care specialist will remove any gel from the treatment area and apply the correct products to help soothe any discomfort from the procedure.
